The West Coast Eagles aim to employ up to two graduates each year from the Diploma in Sport Business.

Students who complete all eight units will receive a Diploma in Sport Business from ECU.
By completing the Diploma in Sport Business as part of the West Coast Eagles and ECU partnership, students can apply to enrol in a number of degrees offered by ECU. Graduates will be eligible to be considered for entry to, and apply for credit for:

Bachelor of Commerce (Sport Business and/or Event Management)

Bachelor of Science (Exercise and Sports Science)/Bachelor of Commerce (Sport Business)
The Diploma in Sport Business provides graduates with the academic skills to succeed at university but also the practical knowledge and skills to kick-start a career in one of the world’s most exciting and growing industries, sport business and event management.

Up to 100 hours of practical, work-ready experience with the West Coast Eagles Football Club and other sport industry affiliates where appropriate

Exposure to West Coast Eagles (AFL, AFLW and WAFL) football operations, fan engagement, membership operations, community engagement, diversity and inclusion programs, marketing and media communications, events, junior clinics and more.

Guest presentations from West Coast Eagles Football Club staff, coaches, and players.

Networking opportunities with West Coast Eagles Football Club staff.

There will also be opportunities for additional work-integrated learning embedded across the eight units in the curriculum.

The course is delivered full-time and requires the following commitment.
You will have face-to-face classes for 2 days a week at the West Coast Eagles Football Club headquarters in Lathlain during the academic semester.
Students should also spend at least 7 hours per week preparing for class and working on their assessment per unit, while additional hours will be required during the football season to complete the workplace applied learning with the West Coast Eagles Football Club and other sporting organisations and bodies.

The Diploma runs in line with the ECU standard Semesters 1 and 2 pattern, for the relevant calendar year. See ECU Academic calendars for further information.

The graduate entry level positions will only be available to students who successfully complete the Diploma in Sport Business. There will be a formal application and interview process as students near completion of the course and students are encouraged to highlight their suitability for these roles, alongside their knowledge, skills and enthusiasm while completing up to 100 hours of work-based learning.
The roles available will depend on a number of factors, including (but not limited to):

The operational requirements of the West Coast Eagles Football Club at the time of recruitment, especially regarding the roles and responsibilities in demand.

The capabilities and aptitude demonstrated by students while completing the course.

The student’s interests/preferences regarding the various departments within the West Coast Eagles organisation and taking into consideration the student’s career aspirations.

The relationships developed between individual students and staff during the course.
